New Delhi, 30th July. Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena on Monday declared a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of three civil services aspirants who tragically died after the basement of a coaching centre in Old Rajinder Nagar was flooded.

In response to the incident, the LG, who met with the protesting students, assured that action would be taken against the officials of Delhi Fire Services (DFS), police, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) within 24 hours.

A statement from Raj Niwas confirmed the compensation and added that a Joint Task Force, established following a Delhi High Court order in a similar fire incident at a Mukherjee Nagar coaching centre earlier this year, will now conduct a survey of all buildings in Rajinder Nagar.

The task force will focus on identifying and sealing off basements and other illegal structures that violate building byelaws, Master Plan Delhi 2021 (MPD 2021), and fire safety regulations.
