Devotees from Himachal Can Directly Reach Prayagraj: Anurag Thakur

New Delhi, 2nd March. Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur, announced on Friday that devotees from Himachal Pradesh can now directly reach Prayagraj, thanks to the extension of the Indore-Chandigarh Express to Una, Himachal Pradesh.

Thakur expressed his appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving this crucial initiative.

Highlighting the significance of the development, Thakur emphasized his commitment to enhancing connectivity in Himachal Pradesh, particularly to religious sites like Prayagraj. He mentioned his efforts in urging the Railway Minister to ensure direct train connectivity from Himachal to Haridwar, which culminated in the approval to extend the Indore-Chandigarh Express to Una.

The extended train service, numbered 19307/08, will operate between Indore and Una, offering convenience to passengers with morning and afternoon departures from both destinations.

Thakur also highlighted recent infrastructural developments in Himachal Pradesh, including the construction of a bridge over the Chakki River and the restoration of rail tracks between Kangra and Nurpur.

Underlining the government’s focus on development, Thakur reiterated the Modi government’s commitment to addressing connectivity issues in Himachal Pradesh. He emphasized the substantial allocation of funds for railway expansion in the state, showcasing a 17-fold increase compared to the previous regime.

Additionally, he outlined various infrastructural projects and initiatives aimed at improving connectivity and bolstering economic growth in the region.

Thakur concluded by emphasizing the importance of the Una-Hamirpur railway line, highlighting its potential to enhance religious tourism and benefit local communities, including youth serving in the armed forces.

He outlined the collaborative efforts between the central and state governments to expedite the construction of this crucial railway line, underscoring its significance in strengthening the state’s economy and improving accessibility for residents.
