Rajkot, 13th April: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday graced the first convocation ceremony of AIIMS Rajkot, emphasising that skilled and socially conscious doctors have the power to bring transformative change in society.
Addressing graduating students, the President said the medical profession is not merely a career but a commitment to humanity, requiring not only scientific expertise but also compassion, patience, and integrity.
Healthcare and Nation-Building
Murmu noted that the establishment of multiple AIIMS institutions across the country has strengthened access to affordable, world-class healthcare. She highlighted their role in advancing medical education, research, and public health initiatives.
She stressed that institutions like AIIMS must address region-specific health challenges while maintaining high standards of governance and transparency.
Technology and Human Touch
Highlighting rapid advancements in healthcare, the President spoke about the growing role of artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital health services in transforming medical practice.
However, she underscored that technology cannot replace human empathy, adding that a doctor’s reassurance and compassion often play a crucial role in healing.
Call for Ethical Practice
The President urged young doctors to uphold the trust placed in them by society and to integrate human values such as compassion and integrity into their professional lives.
She said that healthcare is central to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and called upon all stakeholders to work collectively to ensure accessible and equitable healthcare.
Expressing confidence in the institution’s future, Murmu said AIIMS Rajkot has the potential to set new benchmarks in medical research, education, and patient care.
