New Delhi, 22nd Oct. Dr. Jolly met Bangladesh High Commissioner Mohammad Imran and submitted a Memorandum. It said, “India & Bangladesh are friendly nations combating militancy in the neighborhood. India fought for Bangladesh independence against the Pakistan Army in 1971 war.
Nearly 2.8 million Bangla Hindus were killed by the Pakistan Army during the period. Another 10 million were forced to become refugees for your freedom struggle. The Bangla Hindu community in 1940 stood at 28%. It is now reduced to 9%.
Nearly 3,679 attacks have occurred on Bangla Hindus from 2013-2021. 1,678 cases of vandalism & arson attacks on Hindu temples were also reported. There have been numerous attacks on Hindu temples & puja pandals in Bangladesh.
Circulation of fake social media news, incited communal violence against Hindus. Recent attack on Noakhali ISKCON temple & killing of innocent devotees is horrific.
Islamic extremist groups reportedly brewed up communal conflicts & troubles. All this shows the ongoing & systematic hate campaign against Hindus in Bangladesh.
It is alarming & shocking, despite common borders and common interests. We demand “Protection for Bangladesh Minority Hindus”. And urge Bangladesh Govt. to act tough against communal rioters. We are committed to the People to People Friendship between India & Bangladesh.”
