ED Raids Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji, Few Others

Chennai, 13th June. The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday conducted searches against Tamil Nadu Electricity minister V Senthil Balaji and a few others as part of a money laundering investigation, official sources said.
The raids are taking place at Balaji’s offices in Chennai and Karur, the state capital.
Last month, the Supreme Court allowed a police and ED investigation into an alleged cash-for-jobs scam against Balaji, who also holds the Prohibition and Excise post.

The searches are being undertaken under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they said.
The Income-tax Department had also been looking for people close to Balaji in the state last month.
