ED Summons Jharkhand CM Soren for Seventh Time, Asks Statement in Land Scam Case

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 31st Dec. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued a seventh summon to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in relation to a land scam case. The ED has asked Soren to record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Soren has been given the opportunity to choose the date, venue, and time for his statement. He must respond to the letter by December 31 or face further legal action.

This is the seventh summons that Soren has received, but he has not yet appeared before the ED.

He had previously filed petitions with the Supreme Court and the Jharkhand High Court seeking protection from the ED’s actions, but both petitions were dismissed.

Soren claimed that the summons were malicious and aimed at creating political unrest in Jharkhand.

The ED is investigating a large-scale illegal land ownership change racket in Jharkhand.

So far, 14 people have been arrested in connection with the case, including a former IAS officer.

Soren was previously questioned by the ED in November last year in a separate money laundering case related to illegal mining in the state.
