A team of Union ministers held discussions with farmer leaders on Monday evening in an attempt to dissuade them from proceeding with their ‘Delhi Chalo’ march. However, the meeting concluded without reaching a resolution, as farmer leaders reaffirmed their intention to continue with the protest.

During the talks, the Centre reportedly agreed to withdraw cases against farmers registered during the 2020-21 agitation. Nevertheless, farmer representatives remained steadfast in their demand for a legal guarantee on minimum support prices for crops, a pivotal point in their agenda.

The meeting, attended by Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal and Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda, marked the second round of discussions with farmer leaders at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration in Sector 26.

Key figures such as Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee general secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher participated in the deliberations, which commenced at approximately 6:30 pm.

Following the conclusion of the meeting just before midnight, Pandher reiterated that farmers would proceed with the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march on Tuesday. Despite efforts to find common ground, the impasse highlights the continued tensions surrounding the farmers’ demands and the government’s response.
