New Delhi, 6th March. Agitating farmers are scheduled to resume their march to Delhi on Wednesday, so the Delhi Police stepped up security at the borders with Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur as well as at train and metro stations and bus stops, according to news agency PTI.

The two umbrella organizations leading the farmers’ agitation, the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), called on farmers nationwide to come to Delhi on Wednesday, March 3.

“We had temporarily taken down the obstacles for travelers at the borders with Tikri and Singhu. A senior police officer told PTI that “police and paramilitary personnel are still being deployed, and they will ensure strict, round-the-clock vigil.”

The officer went on to say that more police and paramilitary personnel have already been stationed at bus stops, metro stations, and train stations.

The officer was cited as saying, “No one will be allowed to breach the law.” The police warned that there might be traffic jams in the city and that their checks will be more thorough at various locations.

On March 3, farmer leaders Jagjit Singh Dallewal and Sarwan Singh Pandher called on farmers nationwide to travel to Delhi on Wednesday to participate in a protest. They also demanded a legal guarantee on the minimum support price for crops, and on March 10, they called for a four-hour nationwide rail roko in support of their demands. He declared that the farmer’s sacrifice would not be in vain and that the fight would not end until the demands were fulfilled.

Ever since security forces broke up their “Delhi Chalo” march, the protesting farmers have remained at the border posts between Punjab and Haryana at Shambhu and Khanauri. On February 13, they started their march, but the security forces stopped them, which resulted in fighting at the Punjab-Haryana border.
