New Delhi, 24th August. In a compelling address to the Faculty and Students of the National Forensic Science University, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar underscored the pivotal role of forensic science in the justice system, asserting that it is essential not only for bringing perpetrators to justice but also for establishing the innocence of the wrongly accused.

“Forensic science is more than just a tool to bring perpetrators to justice; it is vital in establishing innocence as well,” Dhankhar remarked, emphasizing that a society that fails to hear the cry of the innocent is destined to decline.

Referring to forensic science as the cornerstone of justice, the Vice President stated, “Forensic science is not merely a technical field; it is the cornerstone of justice. It ensures that evidence speaks louder than opinions and that facts triumph over speculation.”

He highlighted the indispensable nature of forensic science in preventing miscarriages of justice, noting that it ensures the guilty are punished and the innocent are protected, thereby strengthening citizens’ faith in the rule of law.

Dhankhar also drew attention to the multifaceted role of forensic science in addressing global challenges such as climate change and ecological degradation. He pointed out that forensic science could play a crucial role in identifying pollution sources, tracking wildlife poaching, and monitoring compliance with environmental regulations.

Warning against the reckless exploitation of natural resources, the Vice President stressed the importance of safeguarding the planet for future generations, advocating for a collective effort to preserve and improve the environment.

The Vice President also encouraged young professionals to explore opportunities beyond traditional government roles, particularly in fields like forensic science, which offer vast and productive possibilities.

“Opportunities in other areas are enormous and more productive. They will test your skill, knowledge, and spur innovation and research,” Dhankhar stated, urging students to maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity in their work to ensure that justice is served without bias or compromise.

The event was attended by Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, Minister of State for Protocol, Jagdish Vishwakarma, Dr. J.M. Vyas, Vice Chancellor of the National Forensic Sciences University, along with faculty members, students, and other dignitaries.
