Former Leaders Manmohan Singh and LK Advani Cast Votes Using Home Voting Facility

Former Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, ex-Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, and former Union Minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi exercised their voting rights using the home voting facility, said the Delhi poll body.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi initiated the home voting facility for elderly voters and persons with disabilities (PwDs) on Thursday, with the service available until May 24. Data shared by the CEO’s office revealed that 1,409 voters utilized the home voting option on Friday, the second day of its launch, across all seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi. Notably, the West Delhi constituency recorded the highest turnout, with 348 voters participating, of which 299 were elderly individuals.

With the completion of the second day, a total of 2,956 voters have exercised their right to vote from home, according to the CEO’s office. Specifically, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and former Union Minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi successfully cast their votes on May 17 in the New Delhi parliamentary constituency.

Former Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari cast his vote on Thursday, while former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani exercised his franchise on Saturday, as per sources. On the inaugural day, 1,482 voters availed themselves of the home voting facility.

In total, 5,406 voters, including elderly individuals and PwDs, have submitted Form 12D to avail of the home voting facility in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Delhi. This initiative aims to facilitate their participation in the electoral process with convenience and dignity, eliminating the need to visit polling stations. Delhi is scheduled to go to polls on May 25.
