Bengaluru, 10th April.
After a distressing incident involving a Bengaluru lawyer, international courier giant FedEx issued a cautionary statement today, emphasizing that it never solicits personal information via unsolicited calls, mails, or emails for its shipments.

This statement comes in response to a recent complaint lodged by a 29-year-old woman lawyer from Bengaluru, who reported being subjected to a “digital arrest” for two days from April 3 to April 5.

According to her complaint, she received a call from an individual posing as a FedEx executive, alleging that a parcel sent in her name contained illicit items, including passports, credit cards, and synthetic narcotics (MDMA) destined for Thailand from Mumbai.

Tragically, the online fraudsters not only defrauded her of ₹14.57 lakh but also coerced her into posing nude on camera under the guise of conducting narcotic tests. Subsequently, they threatened to release the compromising videos unless she paid them ₹10 lakh.

In response to these alarming events, FedEx clarified, “FedEx does not request personal information through unsolicited phone calls, mail, or email for goods being shipped or held, unless requested or initiated by customers.”

The company urged individuals to remain vigilant and cautious, advising, “If any individual receives any suspicious phone calls or messages, they are advised not to provide their personal information. Instead, they should immediately contact the local law enforcement authorities within the vicinity or report to the cybercrime department of the Government of India.
