Jodhpur, 14th Jan. A Rajasthan government engineer was suspended on Friday for violating President Droupadi Murmu’s security protocol by attempting to touch her feet during a January 4 event.

The engineer was suspended by the Public Health Engineering Department after the Home Ministry intervened.

“Amba Siyol, a Junior Engineer with the PHED, had violated the protocol during the inaugural programme of the Scout Guide Jamboree in Rohet on January 4 by attempting to touch the president’s feet, so invoking the powers under Rajasthan Civil Service Rule, she is suspended with immediate effect,” said the order issued by the PHED’s chief engineer (administration).

Siyol was on hand to handle the water arrangements. However, she managed to breach the president’s security grid and reach the front line of officials who were there to greet the president.

She took a sudden step forward and attempted to touch her feet, but was stopped by the president’s security.

Following a formal investigation, the local police had let her go.

The Union Home Ministry took the incident seriously, considering it a serious breach in her security, and requested a report from the Rajasthan Police.
