Govt Reports Improvement in J-K’s Law & Order Post-Article 370 Abrogation

New Delhi, 25th July. The Central government has reported a notable enhancement in the law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370. In a written response to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai highlighted the positive developments in the Union Territory.

According to MoS Rai, there have been no incidents of stone pelting since the abrogation. Up to July 15, 2024, security forces and civilians have seen a decrease in casualties compared to previous years.

MoS Rai noted that the abrogation of Article 370 has ushered in a period of “peace, progress, and prosperity” in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that public institutions such as schools, colleges, and hospitals are now functioning without disruptions.”The earlier practice of daily hartals, strikes, stone pelting, and bandhs are now things of the past,” Rai stated. He also mentioned a significant increase in voter participation in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Tourism has also benefited from the improved law and order situation, with Jammu and Kashmir recording 2.11 crore tourist visits in 2023. The influx of foreign tourists has increased by 2.5 times, contributing to the region’s socio-economic development.

The government’s measures and the resulting stability are seen as key factors in the ongoing development and improved quality of life in the region.
