Himachal elections 2022: The Congress appoints AICC secretaries in each district, with one-third drawn from Priyanka Gandhi’s team

In preparation for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections later this year, the Congress Party has decided to assign a national secretary to each district in the state.

One-third of the 12 national secretaries in charge of the Congress’ election preparations are from Priyanka Gandhi’s team. According to sources, Priyanka Gandhi will place a special emphasis on the Congress’ mission to reclaim power in the hill state.

Congress decided on Saturday to place All India Congress Committee (AICC) national secretaries in each district of the state to strengthen the organization ahead of the elections. Deepika Pandey, Chandan Yadav, Rajesh Tiwari, Rohit Chaudhary, Dheeraj Gurjar, Pradeep Narwal, Vikas Upadhyay, Vijay Singla, and Chetan Chauhan are among the national secretaries who are expected to begin work within a week. The tasks were assigned to them days after the conclusion of Chintan Shivir in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal and in-charge Rajeev Shukla met today at the Congress headquarters and issued necessary instructions.
According to one of the leaders present at the meeting, it was an initial meeting. but they were asked to focus on booth management and preparing booth committees, which are considered critical for winning elections.

A meeting of the Congress Working Committee is also being planned for June in Shimla.
Pratibha Singh, the wife of former Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh, was recently appointed state president by the Congress leadership in Himachal Pradesh.
In last year’s by-elections, the Congress dealt a significant blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by winning Mandi Lok Sabha and all three assembly seats. Keeping the anti-BJP vote united would be a major challenge for Congress.
AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and several other party leaders have visited Himachal Pradesh in an attempt to make inroads into the hill state, buoyed by the Aam Aadmi Party’s victory in neighbouring Punjab.
