Ahmedabad, 11th April.
The Office of the Principal Commissioner of Customs in Ahmedabad has issued an order imposing a fine and penalty of Rs 30 crore on Hindalco Industries.

Hindalco stated that the penalty was related to a pre-import condition that was only applicable for a limited period, specifically on imports against Advance Authorization.

The company believes that this penalty will not have a significant impact on its finances, operations, or other activities. Hindalco intends to appeal the decision, citing strong legal grounds.

Recently, several companies have also received GST notices. Bajaj Electricals disclosed that it received an order from the GST Authority in Mohali, demanding Rs 1.32 crore for the financial year 2018-19. The company is considering legal options and may challenge the order before the relevant appellate authority.

Similarly, Honeywell Automation India received an order from the Department of Commercial Taxes in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, demanding GST payments for various financial years. The company plans to appeal the order, as it believes there will be no significant impact on its finances, operations, or other activities.
