Kolkata, 1st April: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday called for “100% voting” in West Bengal, asserting that “Hindu interest is national interest” and urging the community to unite ahead of upcoming elections.
Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, VHP Central General Secretary Milind Parande said Bengal, with its rich legacy of saints, reformers, and freedom fighters, must be “freed from anti-Hindu and anti-national elements.”
He appealed to voters to ensure full participation in the electoral process, stating that the elections provide an opportunity to bring a government that supports cultural traditions and community interests.
Parande highlighted the organisation’s ongoing initiatives in education, healthcare, employment, and social awareness, including nationwide de-addiction campaigns and efforts related to cow protection and social harmony.
He also raised concerns over alleged restrictions and attacks during religious festivals such as Ram Navami, Durga Puja, and Saraswati Puja, citing recent incidents in districts like Murshidabad, Purulia, and Birbhum.
The VHP leader further flagged issues such as illegal infiltration, demographic changes, and threats to cultural identity, alleging that such challenges persist due to “appeasement politics.”
He urged voters to verify their names in electoral rolls and participate fearlessly in large numbers.
The remarks come amid heightened political activity in West Bengal, where parties and organisations are intensifying outreach efforts ahead of elections, making voter mobilisation a key focus.
