Mukhtar Baba was revealed on CCTV

A man named Mukhtar Baba was arrested on Wednesday by the SIT looking into the Kanpur violence that broke out on June 3 in response to allegedly “blasphemous” remarks made by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. Owner of the Kanpur restaurant “Baba Biryani,” Mukhtar Baba is also charged with providing the rioters with free meals as an inducement to violence.
By waving a handkerchief in front of the Chandreshwar gate, the SIT was able to identify the person who started the fight. The individual waving the handkerchief is none other than a worker at the restaurant owned by the jailed and accused, Mukhtar Baba, Baba Biryani. His name and address have been given to the police. His arrest is being sought by a team. This demonstrated that Mukhtar Baba had a direct financial stake in the violence.

Accused Hayat ZafarHashmi’s Kanpur-based NGO, Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Fans Association, was reportedly funded by Mukhtar Baba. Since the violence, SIT and Kanpur police had been keeping an eye on him after hearing his name mentioned while questioning the other suspects who had already been taken into custody.
Mukhtar Baba, who had been missing since June 3, was apprehended by the Kanpur Police on June 21.

Mukhtar Baba’s arrest was confirmed by Joint Police Commissioner AnandPrakashTiwari, who noted that his name had come up in crowdfunding. Tiwari was quoted as saying, “He is being taken into custody and questioned.”

According to reports, Mukhtar Baba fed the stone-throwers and rioters with biryani on the day of the unrest. However, when speaking to Opindia, his son Mahmood refuted the assertions. Meanwhile, some of the local leaders claimed that Baba Biryani is illegally erected on property that is actually owned by a temple and that Mukhtar and his cronies have been planning acts of violence to maintain their illegal occupation for a long time.

The Ram-Janki temple owns the land on which the restaurant is currently located, according to government records. The Enemy Property Act was being used by the state administration to track down all the illegal properties owned by enemies when the information came to light. The property owned by the Ram Janki Trust, was originally given by a Pakistani named AabidRehman to Mukhtar Baba’s mother, who then left it to her son in a will. To build the current Biryani restaurant, the main temple and 18 other Hindu businesses were demolished.

In Ram Jaanki Temple, regular worship took place until the 1980s. According to reports, the Kanpur administration has sent a notice to the custodian of enemy property asking for clarification because it is unclear how the Ram Jaanki Temple Trust property changed into enemy property over the course of the last 40 years, ostensibly owned by a Pakistani.
