New Delhi, 7th Nov. The Income Tax Department conducted multi-state searches on Tuesday against the Som Group, a prominent player in the liquor manufacturing and sale industry.
This action is part of an investigation into tax evasion, according to official sources.
About 40-45 premises in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, and Karnataka are being covered in these searches.
In Madhya Pradesh, where the business house has significant installations, searches were carried out in Bhopal and the neighboring district of Raisen.
The tax department is investigating allegations of funds being infused into the company, including from foreign sources.
The Som Group operates its own bottling plant and is involved in the manufacturing, marketing, bottling, labeling, and distribution of liquor beverages.
