New Delhi, 18th Feb. Kamal Nath, a senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, reaffirmed on Sunday that he would notify the media if he decided to join the BJP.

Within the political community, there have been rumors that the experienced leader might defect to the BJP while he is currently in Delhi. On Saturday, a prominent member of Congress reached the nation’s capital. The former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh responded, “I said yesterday that if there is something like that, I will inform you all,” when asked if he was planning to join the BJP on Sunday. I didn’t speak with anyone.”

According to reports, Kamal Nath is upset with the party for not offering him a Rajya Sabha ticket and for Rahul Gandhi’s opposition to him after the party lost the late-year assembly elections.

Recall that after the BJP lost handily in the assembly elections and won 163 seats in the 230-member House, Nath was removed as the head of the party’s Madhya Pradesh unit. It took the Congress just 66 seats to win. Digvijaya Singh, Nath’s senior party colleague, declared that the former MP Chief Minister would not be leaving the Congress. “Kamal Nath and I are in constant communication, and the Congress leadership is holding talks with him. Someone like him, who began his career with Congress and who we all regarded as Indira Gandhi’s third son, has consistently backed Congress and served as a cornerstone of the party. He served as the Center’s Cabinet Minister, Chief Minister, and president of the State Congress Committee. He received every post. “I doubt he’ll depart from the celebration,” he informed reporters on Sunday.

Kamal Nath did not confirm or refute the development on Sunday. “You are saying this and getting excited, it’s not about denying it. I’m not getting excited about this or that side, but I would let you know if anything of that sort happened.”

However, the MP for Madhya Pradesh has declared that the party is prepared to accept Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath. In the meantime, there were rumors circulating in the political circles that Manish Tewari, another senior leader, was planning to leave the Congress and join the BJP.
