India and Netherlands Explore Bilateral Defence Cooperation

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh engaged in a bilateral meeting with the Netherlands Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren in New Delhi on February 23, 2024.

The discussions primarily revolved around avenues for expanding bilateral defence cooperation, with a specific focus on maritime and industrial sectors.

Both ministers acknowledged the growing collaboration between their navies and expressed a mutual interest in bolstering maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region.

During the meeting, the Raksha Mantri proposed the integration of Indian vendors into the supply chains of Dutch Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).

He emphasized India’s robust innovation and industrial ecosystem and highlighted the synergies between Indian and Dutch capabilities in skills, technology, and scale. Both parties agreed to facilitate more interactions between their defence industries, particularly in high-tech sectors such as semiconductors and clean energy.

It was noted that the Netherlands Defence Minister’s presence in New Delhi coincided with her attendance at the Raisina Dialogue, underscoring the significance of bilateral engagements between India and the Netherlands in the realm of defence.
