India Moves Staff from Myanmar Consulate Due to Security Concerns

India announced on Friday that it has relocated its staff from the consulate in Sittwe, Myanmar to Yangon due to security issues in the region.

Randhir Jaiswal, a spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, stated that India is keeping a close eye on the security situation in Myanmar.

Jaiswal mentioned, “We are closely monitoring the security situation in Myanmar, especially in the Rakhine State. We have taken necessary steps to ensure the safety of our citizens.”

“We have temporarily moved our staff from the Consulate General of India in Sittwe to Yangon. However, our Consulate in Mandalay is still operating normally,” added Jaiswal.
