India Resumes e-Visa Services for Canadian Nationals: Sources

New Delhi, 22nd Nov.
India has resumed electronic visa services for Canadian nationals after a pause of nearly two months, according to sources.

The tension between India and Canada arose in September when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Indian agents of being involved in the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia on June 18. India had labeled Nijjar as a terrorist in 2020.
India dismissed Trudeau’s allegations as absurd and motivated, leading to the temporary suspension of visa issuance to Canadian citizens and a request for Ottawa to reduce its diplomatic presence in India.
India also asked Canada to take strong action against terrorists and anti-India elements operating from its territory.
