New Delhi, 12th April.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced today that they have increased efforts to reach out to Indian and Indian-origin students in the US to provide guidance and reassurance in light of recent student deaths.

One such incident involved a 25-year-old student from Hyderabad who was pursuing a Masters at Cleveland State University and was found dead earlier this week. This tragic event adds to a concerning pattern of deaths among Indian students in the US.

The MEA stated that they are actively investigating these cases and that the embassy and consulates are offering all possible assistance to those affected. They have also raised these issues with US authorities to ensure justice is served.

In addition, the MEA has increased their outreach efforts to students to offer support and guidance, emphasizing that the embassy and consulates are always available to help.

Since January of this year, eleven Indian and Indian-origin students have passed away in the US.

Despite these unfortunate incidents, the US remains a popular choice for Indian students seeking higher education. In the 2022-2023 academic year, over 2.6 lakh Indian students enrolled in US institutions, marking a 35% increase from the previous year.
