The Indian Navy extended hearty congratulations to Kaamya Karthikeyan, a 16-year-old student of Navy Children School in Mumbai, for her remarkable achievement in scaling Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world.

Kaamya, accompanied by her father Cdr S. Karthikeyan of the Indian Navy, conquered the 8849 m Mount Everest summit on May 20, marking a significant milestone in her mountaineering journey. This accomplishment makes her the youngest Indian and the second youngest girl globally to summit Mount Everest from the Nepal side.

In a display of remarkable courage and determination, Kaamya has already scaled the highest peaks in six out of the seven continents. The Indian Navy expressed pride in her achievements and wished her the best as she sets her sights on completing the Seven Summits Challenge by summiting Antarctica’s Vinson Massif this December. If successful, she will become the youngest girl to achieve this feat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has previously lauded Kaamya’s spirit and determination. During ‘Mann Ki Baat’ in February 2020, he hailed her as an inspiration for everyone. Subsequently, in January 2021, PM Modi virtually interacted with the young mountaineer, then aged 13, who was on a mission to conquer the highest peaks in all continents and ski to the North and South poles. PM Modi congratulated her on being awarded the Rashtriya Bal Puraskar and expressed his wishes for her continued success.

Kaamya’s journey exemplifies resilience, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence, inspiring individuals across the nation. As she continues her quest for new summits, her story serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for aspiring adventurers and dreamers alike.
