India’s Diaspora Strengthens Bonds: PM Modi Addresses Indian Community in Austria

Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a stirring address to the Indian community in Vienna, marking a significant moment during his visit to Austria. The event, organized by the Diaspora in his honor, saw a warm reception as community members gathered to welcome him alongside Austrian Federal Minister of Labour and Economy Martin Kocher.

Addressing the audience, Prime Minister Modi underscored the pivotal role of the Indian Diaspora in strengthening bilateral relations between India and Austria.

He highlighted the special significance of his visit coinciding with the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations, emphasizing shared democratic values and pluralistic ethos.

Reflecting on India’s recent electoral mandate, Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence in the country’s trajectory towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy and achieving developed nation status by 2047, termed as “Viksit Bharat”.

He emphasized the potential for collaboration between India and Austria in green growth, innovation, and leveraging India’s robust startup ecosystem.

Acknowledging the intellectual curiosity and deep cultural ties of the Indian community in Austria, Prime Minister Modi encouraged them to maintain strong bonds with their homeland while contributing to their adopted country’s progress.

He highlighted Austria’s longstanding interest in Indian philosophy, languages, and thought, which has endured for centuries.

Currently, Austria hosts approximately 31,000 members of the Indian Diaspora, primarily comprising professionals in healthcare, multilateral organizations, and about 500 Indian students pursuing higher education.
