New Delhi, 17th July. In a historic first, India’s Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is dispatching two K9 teams to ensure security at the forthcoming Paris Olympics, commencing on July 26. A total of 10 K9 teams, including the Indian contingent, have been selected after rigorous assessments and training.

CRPF, confirming the deployment, stated that K9s Vast and Denby, both Belgian Shepherd Malinois aged 5 and 3 respectively, were chosen following comprehensive tests conducted at their Dog Breeding and Training School.

These highly specialized dogs are adept at detecting explosives, ammunition, and narcotics, contributing significantly to the safety protocols at the Games venues.

Meanwhile, India prepares to participate with a contingent of 117 athletes, accompanied by 140 support staff members. Notably, 72 athletes will debut at the Olympics, while five Tokyo Olympics medalists aim for further glory.
