The Indian government’s “Make in India” initiative has achieved significant global success, with telecom equipment manufactured in India now being exported to over 100 countries, according to the Department of Telecommunications.

This development highlights India’s growing influence in the global communications sector, which is experiencing rapid innovation worldwide.

In the past year, India exported telecom equipment worth $18.2 billion (approximately ₹1.52 lakh crore). Madhu Arora, a member of the Digital Communication Commission at the Department of Telecommunications, shared this information at the Defense Sector ICT Conclave.

He noted that several Indian telecom companies have established their presence in Western countries, including the United States. Arora also mentioned that the Indian Army has recently integrated domestically produced chip-based 4G mobile base stations into their operations for research and development purposes.

India is also making strides in emerging technologies such as AI and blockchain within the African market.

The country has become one of the top five investors in Africa, with investments totaling $75 billion. Numerous Indian technology companies are engaged in digital transformation projects across the African continent.
