IndiGo Pilot Greets Passengers with “Jai Shri Ram” on Inaugural Flight to Ayodhya Dham

New Delhi, 31st Dec. Shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya on Saturday, the first IndiGo flight to the new airport in the temple town departed from Delhi.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, IndiGo pilot Captain Ashutosh Shekhar can be heard welcoming passengers on board the Ayodhya-bound flight. He expressed gratitude and felt blessed for the opportunity given by IndiGo to command the inaugural flight to Ayodhya. Shekhar stated, “This is a proud moment for us and IndiGo. We hope you have a safe and pleasant journey with us.” At the end, the IndiGo pilot chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and the passengers reciprocated with the same enthusiasm.

The first flight from Delhi to the newly constructed Maharishi Valmiki International Airport successfully landed in Ayodhya.

Passengers boarding the first flight were also seen chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in the temple city on Saturday.

Located 15 km from the main Ayodhya city, the phase 1 of the state-of-the-art airport has been developed at a cost of over Rs 1,450 crore. The airport’s terminal building covers an area of 6500 sqm and is equipped to serve approximately 1 million passengers annually.

The facade of the terminal building showcases the temple architecture of the upcoming Ram Temple of Ayodhya. The interiors of the terminal building are adorned with local art, paintings, and murals depicting the life of Lord Ram.

The Ayodhya airport terminal building also incorporates various sustainable features such as an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, landscaping with fountains, water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, solar power plant, and other features to achieve a GRIHA – 5 star rating.

The airport will enhance connectivity in the region, leading to an increase in tourism, business activities, and employment opportunities.
