Israeli Companies Satisfied with Indian Workers: MEA Responds to Recruitment Concerns

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 12th Sept. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clarified on Thursday that most Israeli companies are satisfied with the performance of Indian workers employed in Israel. This response addresses concerns raised by a media report about issues with the recruitment of Indian workers under a bilateral jobs scheme.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that, based on information from the Israeli side, the majority of companies are pleased with the Indian workers’ performance. This reassurance comes amid reports of problems related to a bilateral scheme that brought Indian workers to Israel’s construction sector following a ban on Palestinian workers after the Hamas attack on October 7 last year.

The report had suggested that the recruitment process was flawed, highlighting issues with the Business-to-Business (B2B) pathway managed by private agencies. Jaiswal refuted this claim, stating that the MEA does not oversee B2B arrangements and that the process is managed independently.

According to data from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), around 4,800 Indian workers have traveled to Israel recently through the Government-to-Government (G2G) route. The Israeli Embassy has also noted that around 5,000 workers were recruited via two pathways: G2G and B2B.

Jaiswal acknowledged minor issues, such as language barriers, but stated these were “teething issues” that have been resolved. He added that the recruitment process, including skills testing and professional training, is handled by the Israeli authorities, specifically the Population, Immigration, and Border Authority (PIBA).

For further details, Jaiswal pointed to the responses provided by the NSDC and the Israeli Embassy on the matter.
