Rome, 15th August. Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni conveyed her heartfelt wishes to India on the occasion of its 78th Independence Day. In a post on social media platform X, she shared a picture with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the importance of the growing strategic partnership between India and Italy.

“On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, I would like to express my heartfelt wishes to the people of India, and especially to the many Indians who follow this page,” Meloni wrote. She further emphasized the strong and growing relationship between the two nations, adding, “Our strategic partnership is an important pillar for the future.”

Prime Minister Modi recently visited Italy for the G7 Outreach Summit, held in May at the invitation of Ms. Meloni. It marked his first international trip after his re-election for a third term. During the summit, PM Modi praised the strong bilateral ties and recalled Meloni’s two visits to India last year, which helped deepen cooperation between the two countries.

“We remain committed to consolidating the India-Italy strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean regions,” PM Modi said.

A selfie and video of the two leaders from the summit went viral, showcasing their camaraderie. In the clip, Meloni playfully referred to their collaboration as “Team Melodi,” a term that became popular after their bilateral meeting last year.
