J&K to Be Governed by B.R. Ambedkar’s Constitution, Not Jinnah’s: Reddy

GG News Bureau
Jammu, 19th Sept. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Thursday accused the National Conference (NC) and Congress of collaborating with Pakistan to advance the neighbouring country’s agenda in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). Speaking to reporters, Reddy, who is also the BJP’s in-charge of J&K elections, asserted that the Union Territory will be governed by the Constitution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, not by “Jinnah’s constitution.”

Reddy’s remarks were a direct response to statements made by Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, who suggested that Pakistan, along with the NC and Congress, supports the restoration of Article 370. Reddy claimed this connection between Pakistan and these political parties has now been substantiated by Asif’s comments.

According to Reddy, the NC, Congress, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), influenced by Pakistan, are attempting to revert J&K to an era marked by terrorism and unrest by pushing for the reinstatement of Article 370. He accused these parties of prioritizing their power over J&K’s development and stability, alleging that they seek Pakistan’s assistance to achieve their goals.

Reddy highlighted that the BJP, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, has fostered development and restored peace in J&K by abrogating Article 370 on August 5, 2019. He noted the increase in tourism and the decline in incidents of hartals, bandhs, and stone-pelting, claiming that terrorism has been significantly reduced.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh also weighed in, asserting that Khawaja Asif’s statement exposed a deep-rooted nexus between Pakistan and the so-called mainstream parties in J&K. Singh criticized the NC, Congress, and PDP for their alleged ties to Pakistan and for contributing to the region’s unrest.

Singh recalled past elections marred by low voter turnout and alleged electoral rigging by these parties, which he claimed led to increased militancy. He accused NC leaders of meeting with Pakistan-based figures to strategize for the “Azadi” movement and vowed that the BJP would not allow the region to fall back into turmoil.

Both Reddy and Singh called for explanations from the NC, Congress, and PDP, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to safeguarding J&K’s stability and development.
