Kannauj, 17th August. After a court order, Kannauj Police on Friday collected the DNA sample of Nawab Singh Yadav, a former Samajwadi Party (SP) block head, accused of raping a 15-year-old girl, officials confirmed.

The DNA sample was taken by a team of doctors at the district jail in Anaugi. Circle Officer Kamlesh Kumar stated that Yadav consented to providing the sample during a court hearing. The sealed sample has been sent to a forensic lab for analysis.

Yadav, who runs a private educational institution, is accused of raping the minor on the pretext of offering her a job. A medical examination, conducted with the victim’s parents’ consent, confirmed the rape, said Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand. The victim also testified before a magistrate, affirming the sexual assault.

The case has led to additional charges being filed against Yadav. Amidst the controversy, the ruling BJP has alleged Yadav’s close ties with SP leader Dimple Yadav, though the Samajwadi Party has distanced itself from him since his arrest on Monday.
