New Delhi, 5th Feb.
Kapil Sibal, a Congress leader, has raised concerns about the credibility of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and questioned why the central agency fails to take action against BJP leaders despite being aware of corruption cases against them in various states.

Sibal stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s main objective is to remove opposition party governments in different states.

He further highlighted that the ED has knowledge of criminal cases related to the BJP in multiple states, as many BJP candidates themselves have admitted to these cases during elections. Sibal questioned why the ED does not take action in such instances.

The Congress Rajya Sabha MP also accused the BJP of preventing the opposition from campaigning in the Lok Sabha elections. He emphasized that the BJP’s goal is to target and remove the opposition from power, hindering their ability to campaign.

Sibal’s remarks came after the arrest of former Jharkhand Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Hemant Soren by the ED in an alleged land scam case. Soren had been summoned multiple times and questioned extensively before his arrest.

The Jharkhand High Court is scheduled to hear Soren’s petition regarding his arrest on February 5. The investigation revolves around the acquisition of valuable land through the use of forged or bogus documents, involving fake sellers and purchasers.

Meanwhile, amidst the political unrest in Jharkhand, Champai Soren was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on Friday at the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi.
