Karnataka Man’s Satirical Video on Tax Saving Goes Viral

GG News Bureau
Bengaluru, 27th July. A video featuring a Karnataka man explaining a unique way to save income tax has taken the internet by storm. In this satirical video, the man humorously describes how salaried individuals can save 100% on their income tax. However, the tax-saving method is quite bizarre. He suggests growing grass on your roof or balcony and then asking your employer to buy the grass from you for the same amount as your salary. Since agricultural income is tax-free in India, you would effectively save all your money from being taxed!

Content creator Shrinidhi Hande, in a playful tone, presents a ‘very easy, legal, and simple three-step process’ to save 100% on income tax for salaried employees. He explains that you need to grow grass at home, which is entirely legal, and then ask your HR department to stop paying you a salary and instead purchase the grass you produce. For example, if your salary is Rs 50,000, the company can buy 50 kg of grass from you at Rs 1,000 per kg. According to Hande, this process is completely legal.

Hande further elaborates that by doing this, your salary income becomes zero, and you only have income from selling agricultural produce, which is tax-free in India. Thus, you can save 100% on income tax without worrying about TDS or investments. The video has garnered millions of views on Instagram and was also shared on Twitter by Chartered Accountant (CA) Akhil Pachori (@akhilpachori) on July 25. The post has received over 400,000 views and around 3,500 likes. Pachori’s humorous caption reads: “Salaried folks, this video is for you… learn how to save 100% on your tax.”

The video has gone viral, with most people finding it hilarious and believing that “Indians have a workaround for everything.” This video is meant as satire and not to spread misinformation about tax-saving methods. Its viral nature is due to its comedic take on income tax issues, prompting people to think outside the box.

Remember, friends, don’t start growing grass to save taxes, or you might lose more than just your money—you could lose your job too! Always consult a tax advisor before making any decisions related to taxes.
