New Delhi, 13th August. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has urged Delhi residents to hoist the national flag at their homes as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, which starts off on Saturday, saying the tricolour represents the country’s honour and glory.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence, the Kejriwal government plans to distribute 25 lakh tricolour flags to schoolchildren and residents throughout the city, as well as host a number of patriotic events.

“The tricolour is our pride, honour, glory and life. Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is beginning from today. Do hoist the tricolor at your houses with pride,” CM Kejriwal tweeted.

To commemorate the occasion, the Centre has launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier urged people to use the tricolour as their social media profile picture.

The Kejriwal government is also commemorating the 75th anniversary of India’s independence with ‘Har Haath Tiranga.’ On August 14 evening, the chief minister and his Cabinet colleagues would join the people in singing the national anthem while holding the tricolour.

“I want to appeal to the people of the country to celebrate the eve of Independence Day with the same zeal. Let us all get together on August 14 at 5 pm and sing the national anthem by holding a tiranga in our hands and deshbhakti (patriotism) in our hearts,” the Delhi CM had said earlier.

The government will hold ground events in 100 different locations, as well as a ‘tiranga’ concert. Twenty lakh children are expected to take part in the festivities.

Twenty lakh of the 25 lakh flags purchased as part of the campaign will be distributed to schoolchildren, two lakh to individuals, and the remaining three lakh to Delhi government and local government employees.
