Gwalior, 6th April.
The challenges for Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Laloo Yadav seem to be escalating, with a permanent warrant for his arrest issued by the MP-MLA Court in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, in connection with a case linked to the Arms Act.

What’s the Case About:

Dating back to 1995-1997, the case involves the purchase of weapons and cartridges through forged documents from three firms, as revealed during police investigations. Laloo Yadav, along with 23 others, including six facing trial and 14 absconding, is implicated in the case. The police filed the charge sheet in July 1998, subsequently transferring the case to the MP-MLA Court in Gwalior after confirming Laloo Yadav’s identity as the former Chief Minister of Bihar.

Details of the Case:

According to Abhishek Malhotra, the Additional District Magistrate of Gwalior, a permanent arrest warrant has been issued against Laloo Prasad Yadav in a case from the years 1995-97 involving the purchase of weapons through forged documents and subsequent supply. The accused individuals hail from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar, with Laloo Yadav, the former Chief Minister of Bihar, also named in the case.

The involvement of Laloo Yadav in an Arms Act case, now under investigation, has raised serious concerns, particularly for the Janata Dal (United). Neeraj Kumar, the party’s spokesperson and a Vidhan Parishad member, emphasized the gravity of the situation, pointing out that while cases were previously registered against Laloo Yadav in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Delhi, the inclusion of Madhya Pradesh adds a new dimension. Questioning the politics of the RJD, he pondered how individuals with prior convictions and multiple pending cases could claim to advocate for the welfare of Dalits, backward classes, and marginalized communities.
