New Delhi, 4th Aug. The Supreme Court denied interim bail to former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are conducting separate investigations into the case.

The Supreme Court has postponed ruling on Sisodia’s interim bail petitions until September 4. Sisodia had requested interim bail on the grounds of his wife’s deteriorating health.

A bench comprised of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti reviewed Sisodia’s wife’s medical records and decided that her condition was “fairly stable.” As a result, the court decided to consider Sisodia’s interim bail requests in the cases alongside his regular bail pleas.

During the court hearings, Sisodia’s lawyer, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, informed the bench about his client’s wife’s ongoing medical issues. Singhvi emphasized that her health was deteriorating over time, with periods of relapse. He said that she was currently under the care of an older mother, and her son was residing in the US.

Singhvi requested Sisodia’s temporary release so that he could care for his unwell wife for a few weeks. However, Justice Khanna stated that the subject would be addressed during the regular bail hearing for Sisodia.
