New Delhi, 23rd Nov. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore stated that the new Parliament building is nearing completion and that the Lok Sabha Speaker will decide whether the upcoming Winter Session will be held there or in the existing building.

Parliament’s Winter Session will begin on December 7 and end on December 29

The government has stated that the project will be completed by November.

Kishore stated on Tuesday that the project is on track and that every effort is being made to finish the construction work as soon as possible.

“The Speaker will decide whether the Winter Session of Parliament will be held in the new or old building,” Kishore explained.

On the project’s completion date, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated earlier this month that it was up to the government to make the announcement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the new Parliament building, which will have modern facilities, in December 2020. The building is being built by Tata Projects Ltd.

There will also be a grand Constitution Hall to showcase India’s democratic heritage, a lounge for members of Parliament, a library, multiple committee rooms, dining areas, and ample parking space in the new building.

The government will also build an Executive Enclave to house a new Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Cabinet Secretariat, India House, and National Security Council Secretariat as part of the Central Vista redevelopment project.
