GG News Bureau

New Delhi, 31st May. Maharashtra Congress leaders are disappointed over Congress minority department chief Imran Pratapgarhi being given a ticket to Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra and have conveyed their discontentment to the party high command.

Senior Congress member Vishwabandhu Rai has written a letter to party President Sonia Gandhi expressing his displeasure and said that the leadership should explain that on what merits Pratapgarhi has been given the Rajya Sabha ticket from Maharashtra by ignoring the Congressmen of Maharashtra.

He wrote, “Imran Pratapgarhi joined the party just a few days ago. He lost the election from Moradabad Lok Sabha seat by nearly six lakh votes. So far, he has not been able to win even a municipal election, yet he was given the post of National President of the Minorities Department. Now he is being sent to Rajya Sabha also.”

Terming it ridiculous to give ticket to Pratapgarhi from Maharashtra, Rai said that it seems that the party’s plan is to reduce the number of its MLAs from 44 to just four in Maharashtra in the next assembly elections. In the Aghadi government of the state, congress leaders are already being humiliated and only the courtiers, the rhymers are being given importance from Delhi.
