Maharashtra to Launch New Welfare Corporation for Senior Citizens: CM Eknath Shinde

Mumbai, 30th July. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Monday the launch of a new welfare corporation dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens. This decision follows a meeting with state officials and representatives from organizations focused on elderly welfare.

The new initiative aims to address the anticipated rise in the senior citizen population by 2047, as highlighted in discussions with NITI Aayog.

Shinde stressed the need for proactive measures to develop facilities for the elderly and indicated plans to urge the Centre to reinstate railway travel concessions and provide essential equipment for senior citizens.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) highlighted the urgency of preparing for this demographic shift and improving support systems for the elderly population.
