New Delhi, 29th July. Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a crucial face-to-face meeting during Singh’s recent visit to the national capital, marking their first discussion since the outbreak of ethnic violence in Manipur.

According to sources, the leaders had a brief closed-door session on the sidelines of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief ministers’ meeting.

Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were also present, and they deliberated on potential solutions for the ongoing crisis.

The meeting is set against a backdrop of mounting opposition pressure on the central government to address the situation in Manipur.

The opposition has called for the prime minister to visit the state directly. During the Lok Sabha elections, Congress pledged to dissolve the Manipur government if elected. Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has since visited Manipur and vowed to raise the issue in Parliament.

On Sunday, the Congress slammed PM Modi for his planned visit to Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict, questioning whether Chief Minister Singh had invited Modi to visit Manipur.
