Manish Gupta Murder Case: Supreme Court Sends Notice to Center and State on the Demand for CBI Investigation

New Delhi, 29th Oct. A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Friday in the case of the suspicious death of businessman Manish Gupta in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. During the hearing, the issue of demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter arose. Justice DY Chandrachud asked whether the Uttar Pradesh government has recommended a CBI probe, on which the petitioner said that the recommendation has been made but till now the CBI has not started work on the case.

Earlier, before the murder case was registered, the SSP had suspended six policemen, including the inspector, for negligence during checking. After the registration of the case, on the demand of Manish’s wife Meenakshi, the administration understood the seriousness of the matter and handed over the investigation to the SIT. The SIT has been camping in Gorakhpur for the last 10 days and is investigating every aspect.

Let us tell you that on September 27, Manish Gupta, a businessman of Kanpur, died under suspicious circumstances in room number 512 of Krishna Palace Hotel under Ramgarhtal police station. Regarding Manish’s death, initially SSP Gorakhpur had called it an accident.

However, after the post-mortem report proved contrary to the statement of the SSP, the wife of the deceased, Meenakshi Gupta, pleaded for help from the Yogi government and demanded a CBI inquiry. On which Chief Minister Yogi had directed the SIT to investigate the entire matter till the transfer of the case along with recommending the CBI investigation. In the SIT investigation so far, it is coming to the fore that businessman Manish Gupta died due to being beaten up by the police.
