New Delhi, 5th April: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Sunday highlighted meditation as a powerful tool for inner transformation, mental clarity, and societal harmony while addressing the Global Conference of Meditation Leaders at Bharat Mandapam.

Speaking at the conference themed “Meditation for Holistic Living and a Peaceful World,” the Vice President said meditation is the starting point of inner transformation and plays a crucial role in building a better and more peaceful world.

Emphasising its relevance in modern times, he noted that while the world faces multiple external challenges, individuals are also grappling with inner conflicts. Meditation, he said, helps bring clarity, reduces stress, and fosters emotional resilience.

Quoting philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti, he said that the ability to observe without judgment is key to intelligence, adding that meditation enables such awareness and self-reflection.

The Vice President cautioned against excessive focus on material success, stating that while wealth brings comfort, it should not overshadow meaningful living. He underlined that meditation helps individuals maintain balance and lead fulfilling lives.

Linking the practice to national progress, he said that as India moves towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, mental well-being must complement economic growth. “Better minds build a better world,” he remarked.

Highlighting concerns over rising substance abuse among youth, he said meditation can act as an effective tool to combat drug addiction by addressing stress, anxiety, and lack of direction.

The event was attended by spiritual leaders, policymakers, and scholars, including Swami Chidanand Saraswati and former CBI Director D.R. Kaarthikeyan, among others.
