New Delhi, 24th June.
Meta on Monday announced the availability of its AI assistant, ‘Meta AI,’ in India across multiple platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and the Meta.ai portal. This move allows users to leverage Meta AI in feeds and chats to accomplish tasks, create content, and explore topics without leaving the app they are using, according to a statement by the social media giant.

“Meta AI, one of the world’s leading AI assistants, now arrives in India on WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and Meta.ai. And it’s built with Meta Llama 3, our most advanced LLM to date,” Meta said, announcing the rollout in India. Meta first introduced Meta AI at last year’s Connect conference, and since April, it has been gradually bringing the latest version of Meta AI, built with Llama 3, to users worldwide.

“With our most powerful Large Language Model (LLM) under the hood, Meta AI is better than ever. We’re excited to share our next-generation assistant with even more people and can’t wait to see how it enhances people’s lives,” the company stated.

Meta AI offers a variety of functionalities. Users can ask Meta AI in WhatsApp group chats for restaurant recommendations, get ideas for road trip stops, or even create multiple-choice tests on the web. For example, users moving into a new apartment can ask Meta AI to ‘imagine’ an aesthetic, helping them create a mood board of AI-generated images for furniture shopping inspiration.

Additionally, Meta AI is accessible while scrolling through Facebook feeds. If users come across an intriguing post, they can ask Meta AI for more information directly from the post. For instance, if they see a photo of the northern lights in Iceland, they can ask Meta AI about the best time of year to view the aurora borealis.

The ‘imagine’ feature of Meta AI also allows users to create and share images by using the word ‘imagine’ while interacting with Meta AI directly or in group chats.
