Minister Parshottam Rupala Distributes Fishing Equipment Among Beneficiaries of PMMSY

Jammu, 4th March. Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala visited the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

On the second day of his visit on Friday, he visited the Mini Aquarium Centre at Tanmarg with the objective of operationalizing the Aquarium cum Awareness Centre and interacted with the fish farming community.

Moving forward, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying  Shri Parshottam Rupala, distributed fishing equipment among beneficiaries of CARP & TROUT units, sponsored under PMMSY.

He addressed regarding the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojna (PMMSY) scheme and other multidimensional activities of blue revolution with major focus on increasing fisheries production and productivity (for both inland, marine and cold water fisheries) and its associated activities, including infrastructure development, Marketing, Exports, and institutional arrangements, etc.

Parshottam Rupala, educated the fish farmers on the topic of cold water fisheries in India, he stated that the Government of India has set up National Research Centre on ColdWater Fisheries, Uttarakhand in September 1987 to promote cold water fisheries.

He threw light on topics such as increase in source of Income, Major contribution in economy of the state, the importance of cold water fishes in their unique biodiversity, valuable germplasm and maintenance of environmental quality in hills.

Beneficiaries of PMMSY & KCC, fish farmers and fishermen interacted with Union Minister Parshottam Rupala.

This interactive session helped him to understand the issues being faced and assured the beneficiaries, fish farmers and fishermen that the same will be worked upon for improvement on fisheries development in Himalayan and cold water fisheries region.
