Mizoram Police Seize Drugs Worth Rs 32.54 Crore; 2 Arrested

Mizoram, 14th July. Mizoram Police confiscated drugs worth Rs 32.54 crore and detained two drug peddlers, including a woman, in one of the greatest recoveries this year, according to a police statement released on Saturday.

In the drug seizure case reported in Aizawl, Mizoram, on July 12, Lalbiakthanga Khiangte, the Inspector General of Police (L&O), stated that during the operations, the police caught two people, including a woman.

“On July 12, the Khawzawl and Champhai District Police, while conducting a joint operation, intercepted one Bolero coming from Champhai towards Aizawl,” the officer added.

According to the IG, 106 envelopes contained 115.55 kg of methamphetamine pills (commonly known as Yaba tablets or party tablets).

He went on to say, “The truck was carrying a large quantity of methamphetamine. The vehicle was being driven and owned by Lalrintluanga (50) of Champai Vengthlang. The seized medicines weighed 115.55 kg (106 packages of 1, 070, 600 tablets) and were priced at Rs 32,11,800.000 in the local market.

“The Khawzawl police station registered a case under the ND & PS Act for further investigation to ascertain other linkages,” she said.

The Mizoram police confiscated a big amount of drugs worth Rs 32.54 crore in two separate operations on July 12.

He also stated that on July 12, the Zokhawthar Police Station team, acting on a specific input, recovered and seized 124 soap packs of heroin weighing 1429 grams and valued at Rs 42.87 lakh from a single car.

The vehicle’s owner was identified as Lalduhawmi (27) of Dinthar Veng in Champhai, near Zokhawthar Playground.
Regarding the second operation, he stated that the Zokhawthar Police Station has filed a case for additional legal action, and an investigation is underway.

“Zokhawthar police station registered a case for further legal action and investigation of forward and backward linkages,” stated the senior official.
Further inquiry into the case is underway.

Previously, on June 27, the Mizoram Police made all-out efforts in the fight against drugs, seizing drugs worth Rs 66,82,35.0790 and arresting 265 persons until June of this year.
