Pune, 1st June.
In a turn of events in the Pune Porsche crash case, the Pune police have arrested the mother of the teen accused of running over two people while driving the luxury car. Authorities revealed that the mother allegedly swapped her blood sample in an attempt to prove that her son wasn’t drunk at the time of the accident.

Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar stated that the accident investigation unveiled that the minor’s blood samples were replaced with those of his mother. The incident occurred on May 19 in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar, where two techies lost their lives after a Porsche, allegedly being driven by the intoxicated minor, collided with their two-wheeler.

While the 17-year-old minor has been sent to an observation home, his father and grandfather have also been arrested for allegedly kidnapping the family’s driver and pressuring him to take the blame for the accident.

The investigation has shed light on efforts by the influential family to cover up the crime. Initially, they attempted to persuade their family driver to accept responsibility for the crash in exchange for cash. When he refused, they reportedly abducted him and coerced him to confess.

Further irregularities emerged regarding the 17-year-old’s medical examination at the state-run Sassoon Hospital. The Maharashtra Medical Education appointed a three-member committee, headed by Dr. Pallavi Sapale, dean of Mumbai-based Grants Medical College, to investigate the matter.

Previously, the teen’s mother appeared in a video message denying the authenticity of a viral video purportedly featuring her son. She appealed to the police to “protect” her son and visibly broke down on camera.

Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Kostha, both 24-year-old engineers from Madhya Pradesh, tragically lost their lives in the collision. The minor, alleged to be driving under the influence, was initially granted bail within 15 hours under conditions widely criticized as insufficient. However, amidst mounting public outcry, the Juvenile Justice Board revised its decision and remanded him to an observation home until June 5, pending a decision on the police’s request to try him as an adult.
