MP: 59 Names, including Vijay Manohar and Rahul Singh, in the Race for Chief Information Commissioner

 A long list of eminent personalities has emerged for the position of Chief Information Commissioner in Madhya Pradesh. For the role of Chief Information Commissioner, the government has received 59 names so far, while for the Information Commissioner, along with 185 nominees, some ordinary citizens have also applied.

The state has approved 10 positions, including Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioner. Applications were invited for these positions by the government. Now, several prominent individuals in the state have shown interest in becoming Chief Information Commissioners and Information Commissioners. After the removal of the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections on June 4, recruitment for the positions of Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners will take place. It should be noted that there is also a vacant position for Deputy Lokayukta in the organization.

Judges and pensioners also in the list

For the position of Chief Information Commissioner, applications have been received from professors, assistant registrars, retired judges, retired IAS officers, journalists, lawyers, and teachers. An interesting name in the list is that of a village employment assistant. Some pensioners have also applied. Additionally, a student also aspires to become the Chief Information Commissioner.

Maheshwari and D. Srinivas in the Queue

Retired IPS officers like Vipin Kumar Maheshwari, Vijay Yadav, and Mukesh Jain’s names are included in the 59 positions for the Chief Information Commissioner. Similarly, retired IAS officer D. Srinivas Rao has also applied. Journalists like Vijay Manohar Tiwari and Rahul Singh have shown interest in becoming Chief Information Commissioners. Prior to this, Tiwari and Singh have served as Information Commissioners in Madhya Pradesh.

Hriday Dixit, Dharmendra Paigwar Want to Become Information Commissioners

185 individuals have applied to become Information Commissioners, including the publisher of Pradesh Today, Hridayesh Dixit. Sandeep Pare, a journalist from Indore, also has an interest in this position. Independent journalists Dharmendra Bhadauria, Sunil Srivastava, Sudip Shukla, Sudhir Dixit, Dharmendra Paigwar, and Kaushal Kishor Chaturvedi also aspire to become Information Commissioners.

Rahul and Maheshwari Apply for Both Positions

Among the 185 names for Information Commissioners, two names, Rahul Singh and Vipin Maheshwari, have applied for both Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioner positions. Meanwhile, IPS officer Ashok Awasthi has applied for the position of Information Commissioner.

Retired IAS Jayashri Kiyawat also aims to become an Information Commissioner. It’s noteworthy that several applicants for the position of Information Commissioner have also applied for the position of Chief Information Commissioner.

Even an Employment Assistant Applies

In the list of applicants for Chief Information Commissioners, most of the candidates’ positions are noted. This indicates that Sudhakar Shukla, an employment assistant, has also applied to become Chief Information Commissioner. However, the addresses of most applicants are not listed. People from states like Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh have also shown interest by applying to become Chief Information Commissioners and Information Commissioners.

More Than 10,000 Cases Pending

It is worth mentioning that with the absence of Chief Information Commissioners and Information Commissioners, there is a backlog of complaints. According to sources, more than 10,000 appeals and complaints are pending in the Information Commission. After the retirement of Information Commissioners in March 2024, the Commission’s work has practically come to a standstill.

High Court Had Reached Regarding Appointment Matter

According to information, in April, Deputy Advocate General Brahm Dutt Singh informed the High Court that the government had issued advertisements for the appointment of Information Commissioners in the Information Commission. The government has received 185 applications. The High Court had directed the state government to present a complete response in the entire matter.”
