Mussoorie Hotel Association Sends Memorandum Through SDM Mussoorie to the Chief Minister to Stop the Road Construction Kempty – Thatyur Road

Mussoorie, 06th Aug. Mussoorie hotel association officials met SDM Mussoorie and presenting a memorandum addressed to the chief minister demanding the stopping of the road laying work from on Kempty Thatyur road to avoid irreparable damage to the water bodies that are major source of water supply to Mussoorie.

The officials form the association in memorandum stated that the springs at Jinsi village fulfills approximately 25% of Mussoorie’s water supply and the laying down of the road from Kempty to Thatyur is resulting in the permanent damage is being caused to the source and depleting water springs around Mussoorie. Hence to save the eco system that supplies drinking water to the tourist town of Mussoorie the laying of the said road should be stopped immediately. However, the residents of the villages on the way to the newly road being laid here said that that the road is being built for the benefit of the people after a long-standing demand and this road will work as a lifeline for the people here. To stop its construction would be detrimental to the interest of the people as they are forced to tread on foot to reach hospital that are several kilometers away from their villages, right now. They said that already a drinking water pipeline project from Yamuna is being constructed for Mussoorie. They also demanded from the government that an amicable solution in consultation with all stake holders should be considered where the road is also built, and water bodies are also not impacted before coming to any decision. Some villagers from Jinsi have raised the issue of damage to the water bodies and have said that if the road in present form is constructed it will have an adverse impact on the natural springs around here.
