New Delhi, 6th April: Senior IAS officer Narendra Bhooshan on Monday assumed charge as Secretary, Department of Land Resources under the Ministry of Rural Development.
A 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, Bhooshan brings over three decades of administrative experience across key sectors at both the Centre and state levels.
Prior to this appointment, he served as Additional Chief Secretary handling Energy, Additional Energy and Technical Education portfolios in the Uttar Pradesh government. He has also held several important positions in the state, including Principal Secretary in departments such as Infrastructure, Industry, IT & Electronics, and Public Works.
At the central level, Bhooshan has contributed to major national initiatives, serving as Deputy Director General at the Unique Identification Authority of India, Mission Director of National Food Security Management, and Joint Secretary in the Agriculture Ministry. He has also worked with the India Trade Promotion Organisation under the Commerce Ministry.
His administrative career also includes field-level governance, having served as District Magistrate in Mathura, Firozabad and Udham Singh Nagar, besides roles in finance, transport and industry departments.
Bhooshan holds a Master’s degree in International Development Policy from Duke University and postgraduate qualifications in Economics, along with extensive training in public finance, international negotiations and climate change preparedness.
